Sept 6/7

Folk were great about the heat and the smoke.

The Founders of Grant Woodworking persevere.

By next weeks students should have studied the safety lessons on Maucks.com for Bandsaw; Compound Miter Saw; Drills, and Drill Press. Tests will begin on Monday of next week.

Students read about the importance of eye protection.

Mr. Zartler gave notes on wood grain:

Mr. Zartler demonstrated how to take rough lumber and mill it on the jointer and planner till it was flat and square. Some students made supervised cuts on the Compound Miter Saw or Bandsaw.

Most classes practiced glueing wood in various configurations of grain. Students will test their glue-ups next class.

Once these tests are passed, then we can begin using the machinery to make tool holders. Beginning early next week students will learn to cut a dovetail (This will require 24 sharp chisels, so if you have free periods 1st or 8th, or time during Flex please come learn how to sharpen.

Also, our Table Saw has finally cleared the purchasing bureaucracy. It should be here next week.
