Friday, March 9th

I am out on Friday.

You will take a test on jointer operations.

Then you will view an episode of The Woodwright's Shop. This episode features a guest Christopher Schwartz. Schwartz is famous for historical research into woodworking methods.

Some questions to consider while you watch this episode are:
How do you make a tool?
What came first, the tool, or the tool to make the tool?
What is square? How do you make a square square without a square?
How is working with ONLY hand powered tools different than working with big machines? (How is it the same?)
Please record your thoughts about these questions in your note books.
The Woodwright's Shop: Try Square with Christopher Schwartz (2013-14) (You may need to select from among the available episodes).

After you've watched (and discussed the episode, you are to complete the cut diagram worksheet that was not completed last week. This should be turned in at the end of class, or the beginning of next class.
